Age verification

1. Why we verify age

Afterglow hosts explicit sexual content including live webcam shows, private sessions, photos, and videos. Access is restricted to adults aged 18 or over (or the higher age of majority in your country if it is over 18).

• Protect children and young people from adult content
• Comply with UK Online Safety Act / Ofcom age assurance expectations
• Meet payment, hosting, and platform duty-of-care standards
• Ensure performers are documented adults before going live or selling media

A simple “I am 18+” button on the homepage is not enough for full access in the UK. You must complete our onboarding checks (and highly effective age assurance where required) before freechat, tips, private shows, or purchases.

2. Who must verify

Guests may see limited marketing pages. Live video and paid features require a verified adult account.

3. How members verify

Typical member journey on Afterglow:

1. Account — register with email and password. Confirm you are 18+.
2. Date of birth — provide DOB that proves you are at least 18 years old. Under-18 dates are rejected.
3. Terms — accept Terms of Use, privacy notice, and adult content rules. UK users also accept Online Safety / age-assurance notices.
4. Highly effective check (UK / HEAA) — complete one of the accepted methods below (payment card check or photo ID). A self-declare alone is recorded but does not unlock full UK access.
5. Access — once checks pass, you can explore, tip, private, and buy content with credits.

4. How performers verify

Performers complete everything members do, plus industry-style model steps:

• Model agreement and confirmation you own the content you stream / sell
• Performer photo ID — government ID (e.g. passport, national ID, driving licence) and confirmation it is yours
• Payout destination (e.g. Paxum / bank details) before cash-out
• Records retention acknowledgement for compliance documentation

Studio go-live and media sales stay locked until required steps are complete. Apply: /join?role=creator or /start.

5. UK Online Safety Act & highly effective age assurance

For users in the United Kingdom (and other jurisdictions we treat as requiring HEAA), Afterglow applies highly effective age assurance expectations under the UK Online Safety regime and Ofcom guidance for pornographic / adult services.

• Self-declaration alone is not treated as highly effective
• We require a stronger method: payment-card age check and/or photo ID (and, when configured, an external certified provider)
• Access to live cams and paid adult features is gated until verification succeeds
• Country may be detected from network / account data; you can also confirm country during onboarding

We process age-related data only as needed to run an adults-only service:

• Account email, DOB confirmation, country
• Age-assurance status and method (e.g. card / photo ID / provider)
• Card metadata (brand, last4) — not full PAN in demo
• Performer ID files and legal name for compliance records
• Timestamps of terms acceptance and verification events

Verification data is not sold as a marketing list. Access is restricted to operating the platform, payments, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. Retain only as long as required for law and dispute handling.

8. If verification fails or is incomplete

• You will not receive LiveKit freechat tokens or full room video
• Tips, private shows, and media purchases stay locked
• Creators cannot go live or publish paid media until checks pass
• You can return to /join and finish remaining steps anytime

If a document is rejected, re-upload a clear government ID or use the card path. For account issues contact support via your registered email (operator channel).
